Woodn’t it be lovely invite you to peer through our magical window into our very own toy workshop. This is where Michael, the founder of Woodn’t it be lovely, and a trained Carpenter by trade, works magic to create beautifully crafted, bespoke furniture and toys.

Michael is renowned for his masterpiece and individually designed Toy Boxes. His designs have drawn much attention as they sit in both the shop window and in nursery’s across Surrey alike. Some of his most original designs include an Oak Train and carriage which doubles up as seat and desk, a personalised F1 car a Fairy Castle with and engraved Turret.

Toys are essential in the encouragement and formation of a child’s imagination. Montessori worked on the understanding that the play things if a child should encourage their own imagination to make real. This essentially means something should imitate and encourage without disrupting the imagination.

Wooden toys are the ideal for this form of play. Their lack of sound or light interference allows the child’s brain to relate its own effect to the toy, thus nurturing their own imaginative creativity.

It has been said that the deepest form of the imagination is found once a relationship has been formed. We believe that children should own toys which they can build a relationship with. A teether such as Sophie the Giraffe can become a child’s familiar and therefore its comforter. A doll can be his or her confident and a small pirate can relate to a child’s varied and magnificent stories.

By nurturing the imagination in our children we are encouraging freedom of thought, self found wrongs and rights and most of all, identity. We would like to thank everyone who was able to attend our grand opening. It was the most wonderful evening with mince pies and mulled wine.

It was really great to hear such positive feedback about our product range and we were able to introduce new elements to the shop following some customer suggestions.

Sophie the giraffe was certainly the star of the evening and went home with many a happy baby that night. Sophie continues to be a best seller.

We are hoping to have a 1st birthday the same day next year so we hope to see you all again then!
